It's a good day to remember Jack Mundey, the old commie (as in Communist Party of Australia militant) and tradeunionist (from the New South Wales Builders' Labourers Federation, ancestor of the CFMEU) who, with his Green Bans, also became one of the pioneers of Australian environmentalism.
Jack understood well that the role of trade unions go beyond conventionally defined bread-and-butter "worker issues".
"Every working class struggle is a political struggle". RIP, comrade.
