New York City Emergency Management is a department within the Government of New York City. It is responsible for helping “New Yorkers before, during, and after emergencies through preparedness, education, and response.”
The opening paragraph of their press release:
July 11, 2022 — New York City Emergency Management Department today launched a new public service announcement (PSA) that focuses on nuclear preparedness. While the likelihood of a nuclear weapon incident occurring in/near New York City is very low, it is important New Yorkers know the steps to stay safe. The new PSA encourages New Yorkers to take key, simple steps in the event of such an incident.

As I write this (04:59 AM in New York, 1859 AEST), only NBC New York and 9News – among big news outlets in Australia and overseas, publishing in English – reported this, according to Google News. Hopefully, journos’ apparent disinterest is indicative not of shortsightedness or negligence or self-censorship but of the genuine lack of importance of that announcement.
But if worse comes to worse, I just hope Joe Biden, Volodymir Zelensky, and Vladimir Putin survive long enough to witness the slow, painful, miserable deaths of every member of their families, everybody they might have ever loved, in the knowledge that things didn’t have to go this way. Negotiations could have prevented that. Those three psychopathic hypocrites, lying motherfuckers did this.
May they rot in hell.
